PADI Advanced Diver Course

The PADI Advanced Diver course is the first step in becoming an experienced diver.

It offers different experiences and training options that range from simple introductions, to underwater activities and more challenging experiences. Whether you would like to try diving deeper, or are looking to learn more about the underwater environment and perfect your buoyancy, then this is the course for you.

Why Do It?

  • Visit even more dive sites on 2 Mile Reef, as well as further reefs including 6 Mile, 7 Mile and 9 Mile Reefs.
  • Dive up to 30m (or 21m if you’re under 15)
  • Continue your diver training with the completion of further PADI dive courses.
  • Continue your training with the PADI Rescue Diver course, or with PADI Specialty courses like Underwater Naturalist, Deep Diver and many more…

Enjoy new experiences and gain confidence when you do your PADI Advanced course!

If you are an Open Water qualified diver, why not increase your experience level? You’ll also gain insight into some of the PADI Specialties that are available.

Whats Involved?

There are two compulsory dives: Deep and Navigation:

  1. The Deep Dive (You’ll dive up to 30m on this dive)
  2. The Underwater Navigation Dive (Learn to navigate properly using a compass and natural features)

The 3 remaining dives we offer at Coral Divers are selected from:

  • The Project AWARE – Fish Identification Dive
  • The Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive
  • The Boat Dive
  • The Search & Recovery Dive
  • The Drift Dive
  • The Underwater Naturalist Dive
  • The Multi-Level Dive

The Deep Dive will qualify you to dive to a maximum depth of 30m and the Navigation Dive will ensure that you learn the various techniques, for correctly orienting yourself and finding your way underwater. Select your other 3 Adventure Dives from the variety of PADI Specialty courses we offer.

The course consists of five instructor-led independent study sections. There are two options in how to do this. You may do the theory here in Sodwana Bay, or in the comfort of your home, by joining our Virtual Classroom for the online theory. Read the relevant chapters of the digital manual that cover the dives you will do. After this, simply complete the five Knowledge Reviews (one for each of the chosen dives). There is no written exam.

The course consists of 5 sea dives. These are done under the supervision of a PADI Instructor, while  giving you the best possible experience on the dive. You’ll have the opportunity to explore different reefs in Sodwana, especially those that you have not been able to visit as an Open Water Diver, since the depths are greater than 18m.

You will dive up to 30m on this course, if you are older than 15 years. If not, anyone aged 12 – 14 years will dive to a maximum depth of 21m.

How To Start

We run our courses on the dates that best suit you. Simply email our bookings office on bookings@coraldivers.co.za and give them the dates you wish to be here. They will check availability and advise you on the course start date. Why not get a head start and do you theory online? Just mention that you would like to do this, and we will be happy to help.

Please Note:

The course price does not include any of the park fees, or your MPA dive permit (in case you have one already)…

You’ll need to tick these boxes…. Be 12 years or older, and have at least PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or the equivalent (proof of entry-level scuba certification with a minimum of 4 scuba training dives)

If you’re under 15, you’ll receive the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water certification. If you’re under 18 you would need a parent or guardian to  sign your paperwork.

Please answer all the questions on the PADI Medical Statement and if you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you’ll need a doctor to give you a ‘clearance for diving’ by signing your medical form and stating that you are “Fit to dive”

The medical clearance must be less than 12 months old and you cannot sign your own form if you are a doctor.

Your 5 qualifying dives, full gear hire, PADI certification and 4 nights in a safari tent, form the course. Please remember that you need to bring your own bedding for the tents, but you may upgrade to a Standard Cabin & Private Bathroom or Ensuite Cabin if you prefer… there will be a slight extra charge for this.

The price includes the online PADI Advanced Diver ‘e-manual’ and your digital certification card. Please remember that PADI no longer send out plastic cards, however, if you want one, you can arrange to purchase it through PADI. Meals are not included however, so be sure to book this if needed.

This qualification allows you to enrol on the Padi Rescue Diver course
