How do I get from Johannesburg or Durban to Sodwana Bay if I do not have a car?
You can fly from Johannesburg to Durban or Richards Bay airport where you can arrange a shuttle with the following companies – 1 st Zulu Safaris (Tel: 031 3328277 / Email: zulusafaris@eastcoast.co.za) or Zimele Tours (Tel: 031 782 3874 / Email: zimeletours@telkomsa.net)

What self catering facilities do you have?
We have a communal kitchen where you can reserve your own individual fridge. Locks for the fridges are available from reception for a refundable deposit. All cooking utensils and gas stoves/microwave are provided. We also have a communal braai and boma area and Coral Divers will light the fire for our guests every evening on request.

Can I go to 5, 7 and 9 Mile Reef?
Yes you can go to reefs further than 2 mile reef. Diving to these reef are weather and sea condition dependant. Reefs further than 2 mile reef will be confirmed at dive planning every evening.

How can I book dives?
We have dive planning at Coral Divers at 7pm every evening. You can book your dive times and dive sites for the following day. If you are unable to make it to dive planning you can contact the Dive Planner on 079 071 2612 before 7pm the day before you wish to dive to provisionally book your dives.

What size cylinders do you have?
We use 12.2l steel cylinders with din and yolk fittings. They are filled to around 230 bar. We do also have 10l cylinders available.

How can I book dives if I am not staying at Coral Divers?
You can provisionally book your dives the day before you wish to dive (see above ‘How can I book dives') and can settle your dives at our beach shop or at Coral Divers reception. You would need to be on the beach 30 minutes before each dive or at Coral Divers 45 minutes before each dive if you wish to catch the beach shuttle from Coral Divers.

How close are you situated to the beach?
We are situated 2km from the beach and have a free shuttle service that goes down to the beach 45min before each dive and comes up after each dive. If you are driving to the beach in your own vehicle you can park in the designated parking area.

How close are you to a shop?
There is a small grocery store 1km from Coral Divers and have all your basic items (bread, milk, etc) There is a larger store in Mbazwana 15km away.

What are the Parks Board Fees?
We are situated inside the KZN National Park and collect the daily park fees and community levies on the Parksboard's behalf. The current rates are R25.00 cash entry fee (this is paid on entry into the park), R70.00 per adult per night and a once off community levy of R5.00 (this will reflect on your invoice).

I have a Rhino Card / Wild Card – do I still have to pay for the Parks Board Fees?
Unfortunately your Rhino Card or Wild Card will not cover the daily Parks Board Fees, or the Community Levies. The Gold Rhino Card will cover the once off entry fee (payable directly at the entrance gate) of R20.00 per person and you will be required to pay a R5.00 levy in cash per person.

What details do I need to know about the nearest Airstrip?
It is in Mbazwana, and is a grass strip. We suggest you hire security and this is around R240.00 per day (Prices will be supplied by the security company – Mbazwana Protective Security 035 571 0168). There are no landing or approach fees. Alternatively there is an airport in Richardsbay which is approximately 2 and a half hours from Coral Divers.

What level of Cellphone coverage is there in Sodwana?
All networks do get reception in Sodwana, but the levels vary.

Is there internet access at Coral Divers?
We do have internet access. You can purchase Internet vouchers from Reception. If you would like to bring your own computer, modems (using GPRS) will work at Sodwana.
