7 Mile Reef Sodwana Bay
Price: R400 Per Person
Location and General Information
7 Mile Reef is a simply stunning reef. Often requested, availability depends greatly on the weather conditions of the day. Since it is the most sought after reef by visitors to Sodwana Bay, it is generally planned the evening before. However, it can only get the go-ahead on the actual day.
All of the dives here are for Advanced qualified divers or higher. This reef is listed as one of the world’s top dive sites and it is truly worth doing a PADI Advanced Diver qualification just to be able to dive comfortably on this spectacular reef.
Generally, due to the prevailing current of the day, it is dived into two parts. Either you may dive at Northern Wall or depending on the strength of the current, start your dive at Amphitheatre (or start at Mushroom Rocks if there is a reverse current on the day). It does however happen that there is a strong enough current to dive the entire reef at one time, but then you would miss out on so much. The reef profile is fantastic and the chance to see any of the Marine Big 5 certainly a good one!
All our dives are priced as 2 Mile Reef dives so that a package of 5 dives (or more) can be purchased. We then simply charge the balance of the dive price as a surcharge, multiplied by the number of times you dived any of the further reefs. See under the Diving Information tab for further details. Please be aware that you are not able to pre-book dives to a particular site or for a particular time, when you make your accommodation and dive booking. Please attend the Dive Planning meeting held the night before you wish to dive, to do so. If you are unable to attend, please call in to confirm your dive preference for the next day, on +27 35-571 0290 or +27 790 712612 to request your place. Proof of certification is required.
